Alfred Hofkunst

Alfred Hofkunst  (Wien, AT, 1942 – 2004)
Alfred Hofkunst was an Austrian-Swiss graphic artist, set designer and painter. His pictorial works were primarily realistic drawings and accurate depictions of details from objects and landscapes. With fine strokes, sometimes on large surfaces, he humorously and ironically translated a different view of the picture’s content. An original-sized illustration of his studio ceiling and walls as a drawn installation was first exhibited at the van Abbemuseum, Eindhoven on August 25, 1972 and was also shown at documenta 6 in Kassel in 1977. Works by Alfred Hofkunst are represented in many collections and museums in Switzerland and other countries: Aargauer Kunsthaus, Aarau; Musée cantonal des Beaux-Arts, Lausanne; Kunstmuseum Winterthur; Grafische Sammlung Staatsgalerie Stuttgart; Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam.
