Allan Kaprow (Atlantic City, US, 1927 – Encinitas, US, 2006). Allan Kaprow is mostly known as the main developer of the “Environment” and of the “Happenings”. More than just a performer, he was also a pop art painter and an academic teacher. Kaprow has been a great influence to Fluxus and eventually helped creating the movement alongside Robert Watts, George Brecht and Geoffrey Hendricks. The core values and practice of his work undeniably shaped the approach to performance from Fluxus and moreover of contemporary performance art.
