Gianni Bertini (Pisa, IT, 1922 – Caen, FR, 2010)
Gianni Bertini was an Italian artist active in the fields of painting, graphics, and Visual Poetry. Graduated in mathematics from Pisa, he was a great interpreter of the Arte Informale of the 1950s and 1960s. Throughout the 1960s in Paris he produced works of considerable impact and aggressiveness close to futurist experiments, on themes such as consumerism, fashion, sex, spatial conquests and other clichés of contemporary society, consisting of photographic collages with increasingly minor pictorial interventions. The choice of themes such as poverty and societal paradoxes brings him closer to the Nouveau Réalisme Movement.
