Giuseppe Chiari (Firenze, IT, 1926 – Firenze, IT, 2007).
After studying engineering, Giuseppe Chiari began his musical activity as a composer in the 1950s. With Pietro Grossi he founded the association “Vita Musicale Contemporanea” in 1951. With Sylvano Bussotti he coordinates the traveling exhibition “Musica e Segno”. Since the 1960s Chiari’s name became indissolubly integrated into the activities of the Fluxus group and then took part in Gruppo 70 focused on Concrete Poetry. His activity as a visual artist, along with his participation in significant exhibitions such as Documenta 5 (1972) and Venice Bienniale (1972, 1976, 1978), have led him to be considered today the most internationally important Italian Fluxus artist.
