Jan-Olof Mallander (Helsinki, FI, 1944)
Jan-Olof Mallander is a Finnish visual artist and art critic. In 1967, he studied at the Fria konstskolan, in 1967-1968 at the University of Helsinki’s drawing room and exhibited for the first time in 1969. He is one of the pioneers of Conceptual Art in Finland and has become known to the public mainly through his exhibitions and his critique activities. He was one of the founders of the Elonkorjaajat group (The Reapers) inspired by Fluxus. In the 1970s, Mallander founded Halvat huvit/Cheap Thrills, an alternative gallery that featured the work of the Elonkorjaajat group, international artists and art projects.
