Konrad Balder Schäuffelen
Konrad Balder Schäuffelen (Ulm, DE, 1929 – 2012)
Konrad Balder Schäuffelen was a German psychiatrist, translator, Concrete and Visual Poetry artist. He studied medicine and philosophy in Tübingen, Munich, Paris and Frankfurt am Main. From 1966 to 1970 he was employed as a psychiatrist at the Max Planck Institute of Psychiatry in Munich. Following his subsequent training as a psychotherapist and psychoanalyst, he worked in his own practice and as a freelance writer and translator in Munich. The focus of his literary work in the 1950s was on the production of experimental and Visual Poetry. From 1962 onwards, Schäuffelen contributed visual texts, word–image combinations, and sculptural objects to seminal anthologies and international exhibitions of experimental art.
