Simone Forti (Florence, Italy 1935). After leaving Italy due to the anti-Semitic persecution in 1938, her family moved to the States and eventually settled in Los Angeles. Simone studied dance and choreography at the school founded by Anna Halprin in San Francisco. Forti has been a very influential figure for most of the dancer/performer of the 60s and 70s. She collaborated with artists from Post Modernism to Fluxus and developed very a interesting and inspiring choreography of body movements based on the study and observation of animals attitudes in state of captivity.
